Nancy Lorraine "Parsons" Auer's Obituary
Nancy P. Auer Nancy Lorraine Parsons Auer, 73, went to be with the Lord January 10, 2012, at Senior Suites, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. She was born August 20, 1938, to Mary Lorraine and Glen Bertram Parsons in Chanute, Kansas. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, William George Auer, in 2006, after almost 50 years of marriage, her grandson, William David Auer, and her parents. She is survived by 4 children and their spouses: her daughter, Dana Thompson, and her husband, Tim, of Katy, Texas; her son, David Auer, and his wife, Julie, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her daughter, Susan Mitchell, and her husband, Scott, of Burke, Virginia; her son, Richard Auer, and his wife, Karen, of Lenapah, Oklahoma; and her brother, Maurice Parsons, and his wife, Joyce, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She also leaves 11 grandchildren: Ann and Claire Thompson; Ellen, John and Emily Auer; Jacob, Elizabeth and Henry Auer; and Jake, William and Ryan Mitchell. Nancy attended the University of Kansas and California State University at Fullerton where she earned her Bachelor's degree in History; Wichita State University where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Education; and Northeastern Oklahoma State University where she received her Master's degree in School Administration. Pursuing her passion for education, she spent her career spanning 30 years teaching 3rd through 8th graders in Kansas, Wyoming, Texas, and Oklahoma. Twenty of those years were spent teaching in Union Public Schools in Tulsa. Nancy touched thousands of students' lives throughout her career. Beyond loving on her grandchildren whom she took great pride in, her hobbies included sewing, quilting, reading, and traveling. Nancy had a deep Christian faith and instilled the importance of devotion to family, hard work, and lifetime learning in her children and grandchildren. She was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend, and will be greatly missed. Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2012, at Floral Haven Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service and a reception for friends and family at the Floral Haven Family Center, Floral Haven, (918) 252-2518.
