Nancy Mary Polk's Obituary
Nancy Mary Polk, passed away Friday July 23, 2010, at the age of 88. She was born in Whitehall, NY on April 17, 1922, to Antonio and Maria Mormino. Nancy graduated from Whitehall High School and was in college at Alfred University when WW II started. She then took a job in Washington DC in the State Department. She came to Oklahoma after the war to visit friends and loved Tulsa so much she decided to stay here and work. She met her future husband John D Polk and they were married in 1948. They started Polk Appliance Company in 1955. Nancy retired in 2006 and turned the business over to her son, John D. Polk II. Nancy was preceded in death by her father and mother, Antonio and Maria; sister, Josephine; sister, Catherine and brothers, Joe and Frank. She is survived by brother, Sam Mormino; sister, Ann Fleury and son, John II. She enjoyed having family parties at Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. She loved cooking , painting and most of all meeting and becoming friends with the customers of Polk Appliance Company. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Catholic Charities.Funeral Services will be held 12:30 PM Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel Broken Arrow, OK.
