Nancy Farinelli Smith's Obituary
Nancy Farinelli Smith, 68 of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 17, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born July 13, 1943 in Rock Springs, Wyoming to Ezio 'Joe' and Nina Farinelli, but spent most of her childhood years in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she graduated from Valley High School. She would often recount the hot air balloon festivals and loved the New Mexico weather. She started work in the oil industry in Odessa, Texas where she met and married William C. Smith, then moved to El Paso, Texas and had two daughters who were the loves of her life. Nancy was the kind of Mom who loved to be with her children and was happiest when they were together. After her marriage ended, she worked tirelessly as a single mom, often with multiple jobs to provide for her family. She was a 'girl friday' who kept an office running smoothly thanks to her strong work ethic and was never ashamed to do any job, big or small. Nancy enjoyed cooking, especially the foods of her Italian heritage, as well as making beautiful gardens. She was an adventurer at heart and loved traveling or just getting lost to find something new. Nancy will be remembered by many for her sacrificial nature and the way she helped to fulfill the needs of others and not of herself. Nancy is survived by her mother, Nina Farinelli of Broken Arrow, OK, brother Franklin Farinelli and wife Joyce of Del Rapids, SD, sister Susan Cowan and husband Dick of Gallatin, TN, and two daughters, Stacey Woodson and husband Duke of Broken Arrow, OK and Christy Beasley and husband Brad of Broken Arrow, OK. A private family service will be held in her honor. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Bethel Foundation, a faith-based organization devoted to equipping and improving the lives of single moms located at 13003 N. Western Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73114 or www.bethelfoundationusa.com.
