Hess, Naomi Darlene's Obituary
Naomi Darlene Hess
October 18, 1936 - January 2, 2026
October 18, 1936, was a very special day in our family history. Naomi Darlene Turner was born in small town America, in the rural western Oklahoma community of Shattuck. She spent her early years with her parents, William Henry and Eva Ruth Turner, and her two siblings Milon Turner and Nadine Turner Sears. The family lived in diverse locations such as San Jose, California, Miami Florida, Tulsa Oklahoma and Kingsport, Tennessee where she graduated from Lynn View High School in 1954. Naomi spoke often of her love for Kingsport, her school, and what a wonderful time and place it was to have lived.
Naomi was guided throughout her life by her deep and enduring faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and she simply would not be moved from this foundation. While living in Tulsa in the early 1960s she visited the Gospel Assembly church where she met her future husband Robert Leon Hess. The couple were married on November 16, 1963, and spent the remainder of their lives together until her passing on January 02, 2026.
Naomi was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Eva Turner and brother Milon Turner and Sister-in-Law Jane Turner.
Naomi is survived by her husband of 62 years, Robert Hess and their five children and spouses, Barry Hess and Amanda Jorgensen of Lawton, Oklahoma. Rebecca Bissette and husband Micah Bissette of Church Hill, Tennessee, Robert Gregory Hess and wife Celeste Hess of Kingsport, Tennessee, Gary Wayne Hess and wife Melissia Hess of Melbourne, Florida, Anita Gail Broyles and husband Mark Broyles of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and sister Nadine Sears and husband Bob Sears of Kingsport, Tennessee.
Naomi is survived by 10 grandchildren, Ava Hess, Jadon Bissette, Sophia Bissette,
Laura Hess, Gregory Hess, Autumn Hess, Alex Hess, Ashton Ballard and her husband Zachary Ballard, Tommy Talbot, and Alexiz Choate and husband Hunter Choate and four great-grand daughters, Everly Choate, Emery Choate, Collins Choate, and her namesake Naomi Ballard.
Naomi was in her 90th year and spent much of her long life in church, and while in
church, she was never guilty of being just an attendee. She played the piano and
accordion throughout her life and was always involved in the music ministry. Early in her adult years she worked for T.L. Osborn ministries involved in mission work and later she served as a monitor/teacher at the Gospel Assembly Christian Academy in Joplin Missouri.
Naomi was a woman of God, and she worked without ceasing for her entire life to fulfill her calling as a mother and child of God. This may be a time of sadness due to the loss we all feel, however, those who knew Naomi understand that there is no cause for grief or worry, this woman, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother has another title attached to her name, Redeemed. Naomi Hess sleeps, awaiting the command of her Creator to awake and enter into the joys of the Lord.
