Nedra Keller Hansen's Obituary
Nedra Louise Keller Hansen, 81, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed from this life on April 2, 2025. Nedra was born on September 1, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Nedra Bullock and Ken Keller.
Nedra moved frequently in her early years, as the family followed Ken’s career in the oil and gas industry. They eventually settled in Texas. Nedra attended Texas Tech University and later finished her degree in accounting from the University of Tulsa where she graduated with a 4.0 GPA. She was so determined to maintain her 4.0 that she retook any class that she did not receive an A in until she did! Nedra valued education and fostered this value in her grandchildren by assisting with books in college.
Nedra married the love of her life, Donald L. Hansen Sr. on January 15, 1978 in Vail, Colorado. She and Donald traveled widely in their RV, visiting all 50 states plus some Canadian provinces and discovered a special love for Boothbay Harbor, Maine and Flathead Lake in Montana along the way. Back in Oklahoma, they built a legacy for their family in the establishment of Thunderbird Berry Farm.
Nedra loved good food, good wine, and cantankerous orange cats. She crafted exquisite needlework, and took pleasure in gardening. She frequently and generously opened her home to her rather large family.
Nedra is survived by her son Scott Sandlin (Susan), daughter in law Kathryn Black, brother in law Frank Houzvika (Mickie), stepchildren Vicki Karney (Kip), Cheryl Leavitt, Donald Hansen Jr (Jocelyn), Carl Hansen (Val), 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way, 1 great-great grandchild, and her beloved nephew Jackson Schlekeway.
Nedra is preceded in death by her husband Donald, her son John Martin Black, and her sister Kate (Keller) Houzvika.
Nedra, better known as Nanny to her family, was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
A special thanks from the family to Hailey Franks, Nedra’s devoted friend and caregiver over the last several years.
A private family celebration will be held, with interment at Floral Haven in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to Eastern Oklahoma Food Bank.
