Nellie "Faye" Kern's Obituary
Nellie Faye Kern, known to family and friends as Faye, was born October 18, 1923 in Paden, Oklahoma, and passed into the arms of her creator on February 21, 2019, in Collinsville, Oklahoma, at 95 years of age. During her time here on earth, Faye lived a life of love and service to family, friends and church. She was a loving and devoted daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Faye lived a graceful life learned through adversity. From picking cotton in the fields of Oklahoma during the depression to working three jobs to raise four beautiful children, she took what would have crumbled many and used it as a source of strength and showed those around her how to live that same life through thoughts, words and actions. She was born into a large family which she loved fiercely. Her mother and father, Omer Cowen and Lennie Mae Stone, and brothers and sisters, Bill, Lovay, Virginia, Ira, Jack and Omer, were always dear to her heart which was evident in the way she spoke of them. As her siblings had children, her love of being an aunt made evident that she would be the best of mothers, and she was.Anyone who knew Faye knew her pride and joy was her family. She was fiercely devoted to her children, Era Mae, James, Margaret and Mary Ann. As her family grew, so did her love. With each new grandchild, Danny, Timmy, Andrea, Tammy, Davy, Larry, Angie and Jimmy, her love continued to not only grow, but grow exponentially. That continued through the birth of many grandchildren who in her eyes, she saw the continuation of her love.A constant was her devotion to her religion. She was a member of Church of Christ throughout her life and even when she couldn’t physically make it to her house of worship, she kept the practice alive in her heart. It is impossible to describe in words the impact that Faye has had on those around her, but her memory will live forever in the lives she has touched. And as she changed those around her fundamentally with her spirit, she will continue to make her presence known in this world as we move forward changed for the better by her and her love.Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Floral Haven Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Mickey White officiating. A reception will follow at Floral Haven’s Family Center immediately following the service.
