With hearts full of love and gratitude for the life she shared with us, we celebrate the beautiful legacy of Nettie Lavon Hoffman. Born to Cecil C. Deason and Lois E. (Berkley) Deason on February 28, 1937, Nettie was a shining light in the lives of all who knew her. She left this world on June 3, 2025, embraced in the love and warmth of her cherished family.
Nettie was the embodiment of kindness, grace, and love. She lived her life with open arms and an open heart, touching the lives of everyone she encountered. Her gentle spirit, unwavering generosity, and boundless love made her a treasured wife, mother, and friend to all.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Vernon Hoffman, whom she married on February 24, 1996—a union built on love, laughter, and deep companionship. Together, they shared years of joy, creating a life filled with beautiful memories. Her children, Sandra and her husband Mark Smith, as well as Ronnie and his wife Karen Peters, carry forward her legacy of love, warmth, and kindness. She is also remembered and loved by her siblings Buel, and wife Sandy, Deason; and Kathey Brown; along with 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Nettie is reunited with her 2 sons Alan Peters, and Joe Rooney; as well as 13 of her siblings.
To know Nettie was to love her. She was a rare gift to this world—an ever-loving presence whose kindness knew no bounds. She had no enemies, only admirers, because she lived each day with the purest heart.
Though she may no longer walk among us, Nettie’s love remains woven into the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to call her family, friend, and inspiration. She leaves behind not just memories but a blueprint for living with kindness and love.
Her beautiful soul will forever shine in our hearts.
