Neva Opal Lewis' Obituary
EWIS, NEVA OPAL – Neva Opal Lewis, “Nana”, peacefully completed her journey through the pearly gates to Heaven on August 28, 2007 at the age of 91. One of 15 children, Nana was born April 15, 1916 in Yale, Oklahoma. Nana worked as a cosmetic sales representative for many years before retiring to her ranch outside of Claremore. Nana was a member of Willieo Baptist Church in Claremore, Beauceant, Eastern Star and had served as past Queen of the Daughters of the Nile. Nana was a loving and devoted wife, Mother and Grandmother whose sage advice will be greatly missed. Whether growing vegetables in her garden, cooking or canning, you always knew that better food was nowhere else to be found. Nana was often described as “salt-of-the-earth” with a warm and compassionate heart that provided comfort to family, friends and strangers alike. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriner’s Crippled Children’s Hospital or Willieo Baptist Church. Funeral service will be held at the Floral Haven Chapel, 12:30 p.m. Friday with interment to follow.Survived By: loving and devoted husband of 34 years, Don Lewis, her daughter and son-in-law Donna and Judge B.R. Beasley, her daughter and son-in-law, Arleta and Delbert O’Neal, Grandchildren, Brad Beasley and wife Lee, Brenda Rackleff and husband Jim, Barry Beasley, Chris Cable and wife Belinda, Curtis Cable and wife Colleen, Linda Harrelson and husband Kenny, Laurie Wilkens and husband Tim, 12 Great-Grandchildren, 5 Great-Great Grandchildren, sisters Nathalie Amey, Lela Penny and Aleene Butcher, along with many other relatives and friends. Nana was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Knight, her parents, William E. and Martha Ann Dawes, her daughter Sonja Cable and 8 brothers and 3 sisters.
