Ngoc Tan Truong Huynh's Obituary
Ngoc T Truong Huynh (25) died on June 17, 2017 aboard the USS Fitzgerald with six of his fellow crewmembers. Tan was born on June 16, 1992 in Da Nang, Vietnam and raised there for a short time before coming to the United States. His family was first located in California and then eventually Connecticut where he spent a majority of his time in the Watertown area. Tan attend Watertown High School and completed his GED. He accomplished some classes with the Naugatuck Valley Community College for Accounting before joining the United States Navy. Tan completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, IL in 2015, and A School in San Diego, California becoming a Sonar Technician. His first command was the USS FITZGERALD stationed out of Yokosuka, Japan. Tan was very quiet and shy. He did not talk much, but when he did it was always something worth hearing. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to hear people laugh. He was incredibly smart and an easy learner. Many referred to him as a genius. Tan enjoyed soccer with his greatest passion being gaming and anime. He loved his family and especially cherished the time he could spend and hearing about his niece, Lylah. Tan talked with pride about his Navy career and the time he spent with the crew on the FITZGERALD where he served there until his death. He will be greatly missed by all. He is survived by his mother Lily Truong of Tulsa; sisters Lan Huynh and Mary Huynh of Tulsa; brother Bryan Ho of Tulsa, as well as his beloved niece Lylah Cote.Wish to extend special thank you to Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces Regional Program for all the support they have given the family, U.S. Navy, American Airlines, Tulsa International Airport Police, The Patriot Guard Riders, Tulsa Police Dept., Broken Arrow Police Dept., Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors, The Military Order of the Purple Heart, Blue Star Mothers, all of those who have supported the family with donations, flowers, cards, and kind words.Memorial contributions maybe made in honor of Ngoc Tan Troung Huynh at any Bank of America location or to the American Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces, Regional Program.Visitation will be held on July 5, from 8:30 a.m.-8:00 p.m. at Floral Haven, Broken Arrow. Graveside Memorial service with military honors will be held on July 6, at 1:00 p.m at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
