Nita Jo Hawkins' Obituary
Nita Hawkins, a cherished wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, mema, and dear friend to many, left this earthly realm on August 1, 2023, to be with the Lord. Born on February 24, 1952, in Chickasha, Oklahoma, Nita's journey through life was one filled with love, laughter, and compassion. On August 25, 1973, she embarked on a lifelong journey of love and companionship when she married the love of her life, Dennis Hawkins. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared countless memories of love and joy.
Nita was a beacon of warmth and kindness, touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her heart knew no strangers, and her boundless love extended to everyone she met. Whether it was a kind gesture or a listening ear, Nita always found joy in helping others. She had a passion for life and lived it to the fullest, finding happiness in her favorite pastimes, such as being an avid bunko player and a devoted fan of OU Football.
Above all, Nita's unwavering faith in God guided her every step. A devout Christian, she exemplified the values of love, forgiveness, and grace. Her devotion to her family was unparalleled, and she embraced each day with a spirit of gratitude and joy.
For four decades, Nita called Broken Arrow her home, where she was an integral part of the First Baptist Church community. Her presence brought warmth to the congregation, and her genuine love for her church family was evident in every aspect of her life. As we say our goodbyes, we are comforted by the countless memories that will forever live in our hearts. Nita Hawkins was an extraordinary soul who touched lives in profound ways, and her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire us all.
Rest in eternal peace, dear Nita, knowing that your love will forever live on in the hearts of those whose lives you've graced.
Nita was preceded in death by her parents, Joan and Bill Crabb, and her beloved brothers, Johnny Benton and Keith Crabb.
Nita's legacy lives on through her devoted husband, Dennis, her loving son Justin, his wife Bridget, and their granddaughters Abby and Ella of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Additionally, her memory is cherished by her son Brandon, his wife Stephanie, and their grandchildren Kate and Cole of Franklin, of Tennessee. She is also survived by her brother Billy and his wife Dawn Crabb of Ninnekah, Oklahoma, and numerous adored nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
Visitation will be 5-7 pm, Monday, August 7, 2023 at Floral Haven Funeral Home
Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Broken Arrow
