Norbert B. Soerries' Obituary
Norbert B. Soerries was called home February 4, 2015. He was the eldest of ten children born April 14, 1924 in Hartman, Arkansas to Alex and Appolonia (Ehemann) Soerries. He worked for many years for Southern Mills and traveled the U.S. building homes and buildings. He finally settled in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he opened his own construction company, Soerries Construction.He met the love of his life, Norma Minshal, and they were married June 3, 1961. Although Norbert and Norma didn’t have children of their own, their home was always open to nieces, nephews and cousin’s children. They helped raise Adam, Brandi and Candi Soerries to the point they considered them “grandchildren”.Norbert and Norma were early parishioners of St. Pius X Catholic Church. They were one of the first couples to be married in “The Barn” at St. Pius X. Norbert also helped build the school. He will be missed by many of the Parish.Norbert was a former Grand Knight of Council 4721 of the Knights of Columbus. He remained very active in the council up to his death.Norbert was proceeded in death by his wife of 49 years, Norma and three brothers, Joseph, Alfred and Fr. Denis Soerries.He is survived by four brothers, William Soerries and wife, Mary Ann, Alex Soerries, Matthew Soerries and wife, Marjorie, and Cecil Soerries and wife, Jane; two sisters, Loretta Plugge and husband, Donald, and Mary Ann Soerries; Adam, Brandi and Candi Soerries and families; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Pius X Catholic Church Building Fund.Visitation will be 5:00 PM ~ 7:00 PM, Friday, February 6, 2015 in the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel. Rosary will be 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday, February 7, 2015, in the Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.A funeral mass will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, February 7, 2015, at the St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1727 South 75th East Avenue, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
