Norma Dell Bowling's Obituary
Norma Dell Bowling, wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many, passed from this life on Sunday, September 3, 2017. Norma celebrated her 87th birthday on August 27th.Norma was born at home, in Tulsa, OK on Wednesday, August, 27, 1930 to parents Ruth Irene and William Clayton Rudd. She attended Alice Roberson Elementary School, Clinton Junior High School and Daniel Webster High School where she graduated in 1948. Siblings include sisters Billie Irene Rudd Hopkins and Beverly Dean Rudd Barber and brother Buck Alan Rudd.After graduation, Norma and life-long friend Wanda Fields traveled to Washington DC where they went to work for the Civil Service in the Navy Department and met their future husbands.Norma and E. C.(Allen) Bowling were married on April 25, 1949. She wore a ballerina length white brocade dress and veil and he wore his white Navy uniform. They were married at the Carbondale Church of Christ in Tulsa, OK. Shaddon Edwards officiated.After leaving the Navy Department, marrying and having a family, Norma worked for Smith Brothers Abstract Company and later for Flint Steel Company from which she retired in 1985. She later worked part time during tax season for a private tax preparer.Norma enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She spent many hours in her yard tending to her flowers. Norma loved studying family ancestry and sharing that knowledge with family.Norma is survived by her husband, E.C. (Allen) Bowling, sister Beverly Rudd Barber, brother Buck Rudd, sons Allen Bowling and Steve Bowling, daughter Michelle Dovers and many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and cousins.Norma is preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Irene Wadley Rudd, her father, William Clayton Rudd and her sister, Billie Irene Rudd Hopkins.Services will be held at the Wagoner Church of Christ – 901 E Cherokee – on Saturday, September 9, 2017. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the Family is requesting donations to Clarehouse in Norma’s memory. Clarehouse address:, 7617 South Mingo Road, Tulsa, OK 74133.
