Norma Jean Crosslin's Obituary
Norma Jean Crosslin, age 99, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Copper Trace Senior Living in Westfield, Indiana. Born on February 11, 1925, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, to Ward James Tennyson and Beulah Mae Duncan Tennyson, Norma led a life filled with love and devotion in everything she did.
Norma married her best friend and the love of her life, Estil C. Crosslin Jr., on June 5, 1948. To this union, they were blessed with three children: Kenneth Ward, Steven Craig, and Janet Kay. Norma and Estil shared many joyous years together until his passing in 2008. A graduate of Shawnee High School, Norma supported her husband's education at Tulsa University, earning a PHT (Putting Hubby Through) award. She worked for Oklahoma Natural Gas and Tulsa Public Schools, touching many lives with her warmth and dedication.
Her life journey took her to various states, including Oklahoma, Colorado, Washington, Missouri, Pennsylvania, and Indiana. Regardless of where she lived, Norma cultivated lasting friendships and was known for her kind and generous spirit.
Norma had many hobbies that she pursued with passion: sewing, growing flowers, playing tennis, baking, and cheering on her children and grandchildren in their sports endeavors. A devoted Baptist, she found great joy and comfort in her faith, and she absolutely loved being a grandmother to all – including her family, friends, as well as to her caretakers. She was glamorous in every way, which meant getting her hair done every single week.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents, Ward, and Beulah Tennyson; her husband, Estil C. Crosslin Jr.; her son, Kenneth Ward Crosslin; her twin sister, Ima Jean Tennyson; her siblings, Leroy, Dewey, Jack Tennyson, Lena Mae Tennyson, Patsy Anderson, and Peggy Harp, as well as her cherished grandson, Steven Connor Crosslin.
Norma is survived by her children, Steven Craig Crosslin (Andrea) of North Carolina, and Janet Kay Kidd (Thomas) of Indiana; her grandchildren, Lauren Christine Kidd of Florida, Natalie Renee Crosslin of Illinois, and Brandon Michael Kidd of Indiana. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews from various states to cherish her memory.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who offered prayers and support for Norma over the years. Norma was the sweetest, kindest, and most loving wife, mother, and grandmother—a true gift from God. We will cherish our memories of her forever and carry love in our hearts for her beautiful soul.
One of Norma’s favorite Bible passages, John 14:1-7, provided her with inner peace and the assurance of everlasting life. As a dear friend remarked, "Norma is a child of God, she received a royal escort by the angels to the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. WOW, what she must be experiencing right now!" Let us smile when we think of her, knowing she is not only at peace, but also reunited with her husband Estil, her son Kenneth, her parents as well as her siblings in the Everlasting Kingdom of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
