Norma Lee Hodges' Obituary
Norma Lee Hodges February 7, 1944 – December 23, 2018Bible Verse: “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.” “Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that fears the Lord, she shall be praised.” Proverbs 31: 10, 30.Norma Lee (Bourque) Hodges went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 23, 2018, at Clarehouse in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 74 years. She was born February 7, 1944, in Orange, Texas, to Andrew and Lucille Gary Bourque. Shortly thereafter the family moved to southwest Louisiana where Norma was reared and educated. From childhood Norma had a heart that was sensitive to God and a love for Jesus. She was a diligent student loving spelling and reading. She read every book in the school library and by her mid-school grades was ordering all the new titles for the librarian. Norma left school early to help support the family becoming a meticulous worker, which she maintained through her adult life. Norma’s care and nurturing love for her three children from her previous marriage was easily seen by her children being known for their kindness and being so well behaved in public and when visiting others’ homes. She had a natural eye for decorating, and before moving to Tulsa, loved cultivating competition quality roses in her yard.In 1975 Norma came to Tulsa to live with her sister, Linda, while recovering from surgery. She soon learned from a local pastor that she needed to be born again and become a child of God. Norma received Jesus as her Lord and Savior and soon after was filled with the Holy Spirit, marking the most dramatic change in her life. Here in Tulsa she also met her future husband, Fred Hodges, whom she married on January 31, 1976. Norma was not only a loving and maturing influence on Fred, but touched the lives of many families while doing childcare and house cleaning. People regularly saw the hand of God on her life and were blessed by her honest and unique way of sharing God’s love and wisdom with them. She was a woman of her word. If she said she would do something, she would do it, regardless how it might affect her personally.Norma is survived by her ex-husband & faithful friend, Fred; sister, JoAnn Vickers; sister, Linda True; and brother, Leo Bourque; and her three children from her previous marriage: Brett, Sarah, & David Heintz. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Gary Bourque; her father, Andrew Joseph Bourque; sister, Shirley Ballard; brother, Robert Bourque; and two sets of twins through miscarriages. We are grateful to the loving staffs of Forest Hills Care & Rehab Center, St. Francis Hospice, & Clarehouse in Tulsa.Funeral Memorial Service Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 3:00 PM Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
