Norma Nell Hogg's Obituary
Norma Hogg was born in October 1932 to Anna and Samuel Peters. She left us to rejoin our father Glenn, the love of her life on August 8, 2017.She had an elder brother, Sam, and a twin brother, Norman, both of whom preceded her in death. They were very close and had an adventurous childhood, keeping their mother, who was a professional seamstress, on her toes with the antics of twins, now legend in our family.Norma graduated from Classen high school and married her husband, Glenn, on June 6, 1953. Together they had two children, Sheryl and Steve. Norma was a homemaker and worked briefly at Otasco to help put her children through college. Both Norma and Glenn were active, had many friends, and were full of fun. They enjoyed camping and waterskiing and were active in the Wichita Water Ski Club when their children were young—Norma as a ballet skier and Glenn as a clown on the ski jump. Norma was a cub scout leader, then a brownie and girl scout leader for many years. Norma and Glenn squared danced for many years and Norma used the sewing skills she learned from her mother to make all of her square dance dresses, which were a favorite album to show people in her later years. In their 50s and 60s, they also belonged to what we called the couples’ motorcycle gang and rode on motorcycles from Oklahoma to Colorado with a group of friends. The Hogg’s celebrated 62 years of marriage and delighted in the birth of their granddaughter, Lyndsey, and her graduation as a pharmacist along the way.Norma lived bravely with Parkinson’s for many years. As always, she showed strength, resilience, and never lost her desire for adventure and outings. She is survived by her son, Steve, her daughter-in-law, Pam, her daughter, Sheryl, and her granddaughter, Lyndsey. We celebrate her reunification with our father and know that we will see her again. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Parkinson’s Association, a beauty shop at a local senior residence (to help others enjoy the styling and manicures that Norma enjoyed) or to a charity of your choice.
