Norman Charles Chesnut's Obituary
Norman Charles Chesnut, 72 of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed away October 23, 2022, at Sr Francis South surrounded by family. Norman started life's journey in Heidelberg, Germany with his parents Charles E. and Jeannine (Chevalier) Chesnut.
Norman’s mother, Jeannie met and married his father, Charles, in France, after Charles came ashore in Normandy France, after the war. Norman spent his formative years in Heidelberg, Germany and France. He went the American School in Paris, France, where he met his wife Jo Ann. After going to University of Oklahoma, he painted airplanes for Airmen incorporated in Norman, Ok. Then started a career Oilfield Services Dowel which later would become Dowell Schulumberger and
His work involved travel to many countries and offsite jobs. Norman was an eternal optimist, he always tried to make the best of every situation. Later in life he became a Christian.
He loved gadgets and was nicknamed Gadget Man. He liked grilling, and was known to have made the best BBQ wings ever. He also liked making escargot, and eating Fragua. He found meteorology very compelling and kept his family informed with all storm alerts.\His family was his greatest love. He was very proud of his sons, Alain, born in Norman Oklahoma, and Bryan, who was born in Africa. He loved his daughter, whom he called his rosebud.
He filled his room with music and laughter. He liked to be silly and laugh always. He believed laughter was a gift from god. He loved music from classical, to opera, to pop. He wanted his grandchildren to be exposed to all types of music.
His jobs allowed him to see the world from. He set foot on every continent except for Antarctica and the moon.
He was always full of life, had a lot of energy and desire to do a good job and make people smile and laugh. All who knew him oved him and will miss him.
Norman was preceded in passing by his parents. He is survived by two brothers, Jack and Robert, and half-brother Marc Jutteau. Norman is by his wife of 53 years, JoAnn; sons, Alain and Bryan; daughter, Elizabeth Burrows; 8 grandchildren, Grace, Ella, Jack, Charlotte, Audrey, Sophie, Austin, and Wesley.
The visitation will be 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday, October 31, 2022, at Floral Haven Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
