Ocean Jay Wright's Obituary
Ocean Jay Wright was born on February 11, 2020, to his proud mommy, Maylin Kaye Harbin-Wright in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Prior to birth he was diagnosed with an abnormal heart condition. A true warrior, he fought past various hurdles. He suffered a heart attack at two days old, but later recovered. It would soon be discovered that he needed a heart transplant. He was taken to St. Louis Children’s hospital to wait for a heart. His mother never left his side. Despite his health obstacles he was advanced in development and constantly surprised doctors with his milestones.
They spent their days in St. Louis establishing beautiful rhythms and routines that created a peaceful and loving atmosphere felt by all who came into their room. Ocean and his mother spent every day praying, reading books, singing songs and talking. He was such a sweet and content little guy. Ocean loved to listen to jazz during his evening baths and would careen his neck and eyes to watch his mommy sing to him as she got ready for the day. Maylin would stand by his bed for hours so that he could hold her finger, otherwise he would peek open one eye as if to say, “Stay”. He enjoyed daily phone calls from his loving family. They were all eager to meet/see him again.
Ocean was a "handsome little fella". With a head full of hair, expressive eyebrows, a contagious smile, chubby cheeks and brown marble eyes, he won the hearts of everyone that had the pleasure of meeting him. Doctors and nurses stopped by every shift, even if they weren’t assigned to him just to see his huge personality, to checkout his carefully styled hair and to see his socks of the day.
Ocean’s passing was very unexpected by staff, family and his mother. Ocean made his way to Heaven on April 23, 2020 at around 9pm. With freshly conditioned hair and beautiful jazz playing, his momma singing and him holding her finger; Ocean went to meet his sibling and other dear family members. He made his grand exit surrounded by his Momma, and all of his favorite doctors and nurses.
At ten weeks and two days, a tiny boy with a broken heart had a way of changing the hearts of everyone around him for the better.
Ocean is survived by his mother Maylin K. Harbin-Wright, fur-brother Chico, Grandma Rheanna, Great Grandparents Vivian and Rayford ,Uncles; Micah and Makiah, Aunts; Maleah and Makenna as well as numerous great aunts, great uncles, cousins and friends.
