Odessa Leon Poteete's Obituary
Odessa Leon Poteete
January 11, 1929 – April 25, 2026
Odessa Leon Poteete, a man remembered for his unwavering strength, deep faith, and steadfast love for his family, passed away on April 25, 2026, at the age of 97. Born on January 11, 1929, Leon lived a long and meaningful life marked by determination, devotion, and a quiet but powerful resilience.
Leon spent his career as an aircraft parts inspector, a role that perfectly matched his meticulous nature and commitment to excellence. He approached his work with the same steady resolve that defined every part of his life. To many, he wasn’t just strong‑willed — he was the definition of it. That spirit carried him through every challenge, and he fought with that same determination until the very end.
He found joy in the beauty of Alaska, returning again and again on cruises that filled him with wonder and peace. He was also a proud Mason, dedicated to the values of integrity, brotherhood, and service.
Yet, of all his accomplishments, Leon often said the greatest thing he ever did was complete a nine‑month Journey class at his church. His faith was the anchor of his life, shaping his character and guiding his steps. Even his final words reflected that devotion: “I love you, Pastor.” His life echoed the words of Scripture he cherished: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
Leon is survived by his loving wife, Jacquie Poteete; his sons Dennis Poteete and Ron Poteete, along with Ron’s wife Pam; and Leon's daughter Judy Rau. He also leaves behind a host of extended family and friends, including numerous grandchildren and great‑grandchildren who will carry his memory forward with love and gratitude.
Leon lived with purpose, loved with sincerity, and finished his journey with the same strength that defined his life. His legacy endures in the lives he touched, the faith he lived, and the family who loved him dearly.
