Olen Dewitt Hartsell's Obituary
Olen “Dewitt” Hartsell, 78 of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma passed from this life on Friday, June 7, 2019 at his home with family by his side. He was born June 26, 1940 in Hatfield, Arkansas to his parents, Odie Dewitt Hartsell and Opal S. Baxter Hartsell. Dewitt married the love of his life, Claudie Louise Goodnight Hartsell on May 6, 1958 and they have shared in over 61 beautiful years together.Dewitt worked as a carpenter where he did home repairs, remodels and other types of construction and he also worked in oil and gas as a foreman for 40 years. In his high school years he played football for Union High. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and traveling. He enjoyed his trips to Florida, New York, California and Washington state. In his later years you would often find him at the Broken Arrow Senior Center where he enjoyed activities, especially playing Domino’s.Dewitt is survived by his loving wife, Claudie Hartsell of the home; one son, Olen Hartsell, Jr. and his wife Evelyn of Yukon, Oklahoma; one daughter, Vivian Goodnight of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; one brother, Tink Hartsell and his wife Juanita of Virginia; six grandchildren, Brandon Goodnight and his wife Holly, Derek Goodnight and his wife Kelli, Angela Shipley and her husband Roy, Ray Clanton, Cristal Clanton and Misty Clanton; nine great-grandchildren and many friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Charlie “Buddy” Hartsell.Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2019 at Floral Haven Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Floral Haven Funeral Home’s Chapel with Pastor James Lacey officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.In lieu of flowers memorials made be made to the Broken Arrow Senior Center in Dewitt’s honor.
