Wright, Olin A's Obituary
Olin Archie Wright, 79, of Verdigris, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 18th, 2025. He was born on October 23rd, 1946, in Kearny, New Jersey, to Olin Harrison Wright and Eleanor Grace Wright. Olin grew up on the East Coast and attended Carson Long Military School in Pennsylvania as well as Newark Prep School in New Jersey. He later served his country with honor in the United States Navy from July 21st, 1966 to April 16th, 1969. During his service, he was awarded the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He proudly served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Ranger. On April 1st, 1972, Olin married the love of his life, Linda Joan Wright, and together they built a beautiful life filled with devotion to family. Olin worked for Southwestern Bell for more than 30 years, retiring in 2001. Olin was a man who treasured time with his family. He loved having his grandchildren over to play and spend the night, and he looked forward to planning family vacations every summer. The holidays were his favorite time of year. He especially enjoyed camping and traveling in his RV with Linda, and he took great joy in woodworking, good food, going out to dinner, and relaxing with his favorite TV shows. His gentle humor, steady presence, and deep love for his family will be forever remembered. Olin is survived by his wife, Linda Joan Wright; His children, Kimberly Ann Darden and her husband Michael Wehman Darden, Olin Carl Wright and his wife Angie Marie Wright, Kristi Lynn VanWagner and her husband Will Edward VanWagner. His grandchildren, Kaitlynn VanWagner, Olin Taylor Wright, Jace Wright, Maya Collins, Kylee Darden, Kayla Darden, Maci VanWagner, Trey Wright, Logan Darden, and Ava Wright. His great-grandchildren, Jaxson Basks, Laila Warden, Jane Wright, Boston Wright, and Nova Basks. A funeral service honoring Olin’s life will be held on December 1st at 12:30 p.m. at Floral Haven, located at 6500 S 129th E Ave, Broken Arrow, OK 74012. His grandson, Jace Wright, will serve as officiant. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren—Olin Taylor Wright, Jace Wright, Trey Wright, and Logan Darden—along with his son, Olin Carl Wright, and his sons-in-law, Michael Darden and Will VanWagner. Olin Archie Wright lived a life defined by service, loyalty, love, and family. His legacy will continue in the generations he cherished so deeply.
