Oliver Raymond Miller's Obituary
O. “Ray” Miller, beloved husband of Joanne, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle and friend, peacefully passed from this life to be with his Lord on February 12, 2019, at the age of 91 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on November 19, 1927 in Mineola, New York on Long Island. He grew up in Kansas where he attended Dover High School and then Topeka High School where he graduated in 1945. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps (1945-1948) as a radio operator and instructor at the Scott Field Radio Maintenance School in Belleville, Illinois. Ray married Ada Crow on June 1, 1950 and was a devoted husband for 64 years, until her passing in 2015. They were loving parents to three children, Carla, Ralph and Larry. Ray attended Washburn University and then Kansas State University where he graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1952. His successful career lasted over 30 years with the same company which was known as Western Electric when he began and more recently was known as AT&T Technologies. He spent the vast majority of this time living and working in Columbus, Ohio. After retiring, he and his wife, Ada, enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family and friends all over the country. They visited almost every state capitol in the United States including Hawaii and Alaska. After Ada’s passing, he married Joanne G. Miller, Oct 18, 2015 and enjoyed more travel, church and family outings. His faith and his church were always very important to him throughout his life. Many called him a true “Christian Gentleman”.We will celebrate Ray’s life at a memorial service on Sat. March 9, at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Asbury United Methodist Church, 6767 S. Mingo Road, Tulsa, OK 74133. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in his memory to his church, Asbury United Methodist Church at the address above or to a charity of your choice.
