Onis O'Donnell Meier's Obituary
Onis O'Donnell Meier, age 92, passed away on July 5, 2024 at Baptist Village in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was born on Sept 8, 1931 in Broken Arrow to Alfred and Walsa Meier. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 65 years, Jacqueline Meier on October 3, 2020; his parents and his elder brother, Alfred Meier Junior.
He is survived by his sister Delores Peacock; brother Dwight Meier; daughter Cynda Spoon and spouse John; son Chad Meier and spouse Donna; grandson Aaron Soon and spouse Erin; granddaughter Aubrey Jimerson and spouse Tory; and 4 great grandchildren; Rory, Quinn, Parker and Ari.
Shortly after graduating from Union High School in a class of twelve, Onis was called to serve in the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953 where he earned two bronze stars for meritorious action and received the United Nations Service Medal. After returning from Korea he and Jacqueline began dating, married and began their life of service and adventure together.
Onis rejoined the Meier Drilling Company alongside his father and brothers who helped develop oil resources throughout Northeast Oklahoma. Years later he could still recount the details of wells they had successfully completed across Tulsa, Osage, and surrounding counties Later on he and Jacqueline bought a fuel and petroleum bulk station through Skelly Oil. Their business thrived due to their mutual dedication with Onis working the truck from dawn to dusk and Jackye holding down the office.
During these busy years they began traveling and collecting antique clocks and furniture. Even before and in earnest after retirement, Onis taught himself to repair and restore antique clocks and gained quite a reputation for his expertise.
He loved life to the fullest. Some of his greatest delights were eating good food and traveling the world with Jackye and friends. He had great faith in God and taught Sunday School for 60 plus yrs. And, he was very proud of his grandchildren, Aaron and Aubrey, and his 4 great-grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by his family for his love of life, sense of adventure and optimism.
