Opal Maxine Gray's Obituary
Opal Maxine Gray, 94, of Catoosa, Oklahoma, passed away on August 5, 2025. She was born December 19, 1930, in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, to George Washington Hess and Vera Delpha (Gragg) Hess.
On May 9, 1950, Opal married William Monroe Cason. They shared 36 years together until his passing on November 26, 1986. Bill and Opal were the parents of two children:
· William Anthony “Tony” Cason – father of Jessica Sue Cason
· Claudene Lynn Roach – mother of Samuel David Cason (predeceased), Sean Rey Novak, and Amanda Dawn Novak-Hinkle.
· Sean is married to Angela and they have 4 children: Patrick, Asher, Gretchen, and Emmarie Novak.
· Amanda is married to Chris Hinkle and she has 2 children, Christopher and Alexis Gray.
On June 13, 1992, Opal married Carl Jefferson Gray. They shared 20 years of marriage until Carl’s passing on February 27, 2012.
Opal worked for 26 years at Lowrance Electronics, where she served as a quality control manager and was respected for her dedication and attention to detail.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Vera Hess; ten of her twelve siblings — Charlie Hess, Oneta Ragsdale, Lillian Coleman, Lester Hess, Evelyn Essary, Christine Hites, Earl Hess, Helen Keck, and Wilma Medlock; her son William Anthony Cason; and her grandson Samuel David Cason.
Opal is Survived by daughter Lynn Roach and 2 sisters, Glenda Sisney and Janis Greer
Opal took great pride in her flower gardens and loved spending time among her blooms. She enjoyed traveling to visit family, going on cruises, and taking trips to Branson with her sisters and brothers-in-laws. She also delighted in planning and hosting many memorable family reunions, bringing together her siblings, 40 nieces and nephews, and extended family.
