Opal Templeton's Obituary
Opal Yvonne Templeton, 78 of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed from this life on Monday, March 9, 2020 in a Tulsa hospital with her family by her side. She was born May 26, 1941 in Kerrville, Texas to her parents, Goulder Spurgin and Beulah Leatherman Spurgin. She graduated from Tivy High School in Kerrville, TX.. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Earl Templeton on December 9, 1970 in Miami, Oklahoma and they have shared in over 49 wonderful years together. Her first responsibility, that she treasured, was raising a family of six in the Tulsa metro area for most of her life. A deeply spiritual woman, she spent much time in service of the church in the early years of her family growing. Her hobbies including reading, bowling, porcelain doll collecting, and doing crossword puzzles. After her family was fully grown and having children of their own, she became well known in the community by her many years of work at Steve Sundries, a longtime Tulsa Bookstore and as a waitress in Ruby’s Restaurant, a Tulsa mainstay in the 1990’s.
Opal is survived by her loving husband, Ken Templeton of the home; four children, Tammy Adamson and her husband Daniel of Bristow, Oklahoma, Terry Cooper and her husband Dan of Glenpool, Oklahoma, Theresa Gorman and her husband Greg of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Kenny Templeton and his wife Jancy of Ashburn, Virginia; one sister, Beverly Myers and her husband Dan of Cocoa, Florida; eleven grandchildren, Amanda, Tasha, Mowgli, Caira, Bayle, Candie, Julie, Tim, Stephanie, Gabriel and Sara; fourteen great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Golder and Beulah Spurgin; her daughter, Teresa "Gay" Coleman; and five siblings, Charles, Carolyn, Margie Lou, Patricia and Jeannette.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2020 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor James Lacey officiating.
