Ora Frances Martin's Obituary
Ora Frances Martin born March 17, 1915 passed away June 27, 2014. Ora Frances Martin was born and raised in Colony, Kansas by her parents Alma and Orrel Goodell. She had a sister Zelda, who lived her married life in Arlington, Virginia. Frances was working in Ft. Scott, Kansas selling newspaper advertising when she met Philip Weldon Martin on October 11, 1938. They became engaged on November 13, 1938, and were married on December 11, 1938 in the home of Philip’s parents. Frances only child Philip William Martin was born on June 6, 1940 at Springfield, Missouri. The family moved to Tulsa on December 7, 1941 and stayed for the rest of Philip (1982) and Frances (2014) lives. Philip worked for the Frisco R.R. and Frances had clerical jobs. They are buried at Floral Haven together. Frances friends and family all celebrated her birthday each year on St. Patty’s day. She attended various Methodist Churches throughout her life. Frances hobby in her later years (9 years at Methodist Manor) was making knitted caps for babies born at local hospitals. She may have made more than anyone else. During her peak years of 2011 and 2012, she contributed 580 caps. She also left behind caps for her future great-great- grandchildren. Frances made many friends at Methodist Manor of Tulsa. She liked games and enjoyed winning at Bingo, Scrabble, and Crossword Puzzles. Frances had one daughter-in-law Barbara Lynn Martin, two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. She loved to hear about their activities. A memorial service will be held, 2:00 pm, July 2, 2014, Wednesday, at Oklahoma Methodist Manor, Fleming Center, 4134 E 31st St, Tulsa, Oklahoma, under the direction of Floral Haven Funeral Home, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.. Interment is Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Donations in Frances honor and name, can be made to the Oklahoma Methodist Manor, 4134 E 31st St, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74135.
