Otto R. Kopf's Obituary
Otto Richard Kopf was born March 28, 1929 at Homestead, Blaine County, Oklahoma. He was baptized December 14, 1952. He was the son of Arthur James Kopf and Ada Estella Erb.Otto attended Oklahoma A&M College (OSU) from August 1947 to May 1951. Otto was an active member of the Oklahoma A&M College Rifle Team and received a letter for his participation. While enrolled at A&M Otto was a member of the Air Force ROTC and served as the leader of a unit during his last two years. After graduation he went on to active duty in the Air Force. He received his wings as a Jet Fighter Pilot on October 24, 1952. He was assigned to the 429th Fighter Bomber Squadron in Korea. He served 11 months in Korea during the Korean War and completed 10 missions during that period, the last of which was the final official mission flown during the Korean War.He married Marjorie Emmalene Bernhardt in1954. They had 3 children, Lori, Kathryn, Kimberly. She preceded him in death.Otto had a successful career in the Data Processing field. His accomplishments include developing the credit card and billing systems for several major companies, including San Francisco Power & Light, China Power & Light, Shell Oil, and Phillips Petroleum. All of his fellow IBM coworkers looked up to Otto because he was such a bright guy. He was always a part of the IBM functions and special projects because of his intelligence and willingness to be part of the team. He retired from IBM in 1991.Otto was a born problem solver and had the ability of quick thinking in any situation. He was persistent and would not give up on a project until it was mastered. Over the years he was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Tulsa, OK and Trinity Lutheran Church, Broken Arrow, OK. He served on the Coweta School Board for several years.Otto has said: “Life begins when you retire.” He enjoyed working on his farm in Coweta & traveling. He also enjoyed genealogy and traced his family history back nine generations.After Emmalene’s death, Otto married Linda Jennings in 2002. They have been living in the Oklahoma City area since 2004. Otto attended Southern Hills Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, OK.Otto was preceded in death by his father, Arthur James Kopf; Mother, Ada Estella Kopf; Brother, Raymond Earl Kopf; Brother, James Arthur Kopf; sister, Genevieve Frewaldt Fuller. He is survived by his wife Linda Jennings-Kopf of the home; his daughters Lori Pearson of Coweta, OK; Kathryn Mastrianni of Tustin, CA; Kimberly Binder of Mustang OK; Linda’s children Gregory Jennings of Atlanta; Lizanne Jennings of Moore, OK; 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, Brother; Terry Kopf of Huddleston, VA; 2 nieces and 2 nephews and a host of other family members and friends.Otto was a kind and caring man, who was a devoted son, brother, husband, father and grandfather. His quick wit, contagious smile and ability to tell amazing stories will be forever missed. Memorial Service Thursday, October 29th, 2015-2:00 pm-Southern Hills Baptist Church in OKC, Oklahoma (8601 S. Pennsylvania Ave). Funeral Service also Friday, October 30th, 2015-3:00 pm-Floral Haven Funeral Chapel, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
