Uncle Owen is sorely missed. He was truly a good man. I remain, Ernest S. Childers
I met Mr. Owen 5 years ago while working at Golden Corral. He would always tell all of us his stories of his life. I looked up to Mr. Owen and loved him like a grandpa. I would help make his plate and would walk him out to his truck. He was always so nice to all of us. I remember one of the last times I saw him we laughed so hard cause he had his home phone in his pocket. Lol. I miss having our talks. RIP Mr. Owen we love and miss you at Golden Corral.
One of my favorite memories of Uncle Owen, when I was a Police Officer with the Montgomery Al Police Dept. He came for a visit. My Son Scott was about 2 1/2 or so. When he saw Uncle Owen, he resembled my Father Anderson Childers. Scott excited he thought that Uncle Owen was his Grandfather. I started to correct Scott. Uncle Owen stopped me and said. If Scott wants to think that he Grandfather is here, I am honored to let me think that his Grandfather is here, Andy would do the same for me. What a wonderful man.
My name is Lisa Dearrington I work at Golden Corral. I met Owen 3 yrs ago when he came into eat with the ken and gene. I thought the world of Owen, we would always have a long talk I always told him if he need anything just call. When I cooked I would always have extra so I would bring him what ever I had and when Christmas came around Owen found out that my sister made homemade chicken and dumplings and he said "I will take a bowl I haven't had any in a long time " Then last year I made all of the boys a goodie bag for Christmas I told Owen he got the biggest bag. I will miss him we all talk about him all of the timeWelcome Home my friend
