Park Jones Jr.'s Obituary
In Loving Memory of Park Jones, Jr.
Long time Broken Arrow resident, Park Jones Jr., passed away Sunday, February 11, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Park was born to Park Jones Sr. and wife, Kathryn, on January 15, 1940 in Compton, CA and was the oldest of seven siblings. He was later raised in Jenks, Oklahoma and grew up with a love for football, the Jenks Trojans, and motorcycles. He graduated from Jenks High School in 1959.
Following graduation, Park attended tech school and received a license as an electrician. After solidifying his career as an electrician, he enlisted in the United States Army. During his time in the Army, he met his wife, Carolyn Dunn, and they were married on August 12, 1967. She was the love of his life and they were together for 56 years. In 1971, they had a daughter, Kimberly Dawn. They spent her childhood running her to soccer practice, dance, and cheerleading. When Kim got married, his focus moved to his son-in-law, Rick, whom he adored. One of Park’s greatest passions was playing and coaching tennis. He took so much pride in teaching Kim to play tennis and to watch and coach her during tournaments.
Park worked as an electrician for over 40 years in both residential and commercial settings and was a member of the local 584 IBEW. He was a hard worker and wanted to provide well for his family and took on a second career as a realtor working for Ralph Sanders and then later for Chenoweth and Cohen.
Park was known for his love of fishing, shopping for cars, watching college football, and collecting comic books and guns. He also loved any super hero movie, Star Wars and Star Trek sagas. He always planted a huge garden and was proud to share his bounty. But nothing gave him greater joy than his granddaughters, Lauren and Anna. He enjoyed watching both of them play soccer and was very vocal on the sidelines!
Park had many friends and made friends easily. His friends always called him a Godly man and his faith was strong. He went to church every Wednesday and Sunday. He loved teaching Sunday School and taught for over 40 years.
Park is preceded in death by his sisters Judy Gable, Virginia Bottoms, and Martha Jane Jones and brothers Dale Bottoms, and Stanley Tanner, and his son-in-law, Rick Hoffman. He is also preceded in death by his parents, Kathryn Taber and Park Jones, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn June Jones, his daughter, Kim Hoffman, his granddaughters, Lauren and Anna Hoffman, and his sister, Brenda Mann of San Antonio.
