Patricia Lou McElroy's Obituary
Patricia Taylor McElroy passed away on Friday, May 22, 2015, with her family at her side. The memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at 10:00 AM. It will be held at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow. Memorial donations may be sent to The American Cancer Society or the Tulsa ASPCA. Pat was born on September 27, 1927 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to William E. and Beatrice O’Connor Taylor. Patricia’s father was born in Canada and was a semi-pro hockey player while he lived there, which inspired Pat’s life-long love of hockey. She was an avid supporter of the Tulsa Oilers hockey team. Patricia graduated from Tulsa Central High School. She loved life and her family and friends. After raising her children, Patricia became involved in golf at Indian Springs Country Club in Broken Arrow, OK. She joined the Women’s Golf Association, and became a champion with several tournament wins. Pat was happiest when in in the company of her grandchildren. Her smile was constant and she loved to laugh. She faced life’s setbacks with courage and grace. She was an inspiration to her family and a role model for all those who came in contact with her. Her caring and sensitive nature had positive impacts on so many lives. She holds a special place in our memories, and each memory is a reminder that nothing can ever take away the gentleness she brought into our lives. She will be missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Betty McCarty; and two grandsons, William Stephen Bruner and Daniel Joseph Parrish. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Jim McElroy; her three daughters, Linda Parrish of Skiatook, Okla., Cynthia Fain of Rockville, Maryland; and Carol Bruner of Broken Arrow, Okla. She was treasured and cherished by seven grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
