Patricia Ann McPartland's Obituary
Patricia Ann (Flynn) McPartland Patricia Ann (Flynn) McPartland, 82, of Tulsa, passed on January 2, 2013 at Hillcrest South Hospital after a brief illness. Pat was born in West Haven, CT on January 5, 1930 to Patrick Flynn and Harriet Castle Flynn. Pat met John L. McPartland, her future husband, in West Haven High School, from which they both graduated in 1948. She graduated in 1950 from St. Agnes School of Nursing in Hartford, working for a time at an orphanage. This work melded perfectly with her life-long love of babies and children, while the sad situations she encountered perhaps led to her focus on the importance of strong family relationships ' 'Family First'. She started her own family when she married John on November 28, 1953 in West Haven, CT, just before joining him as he began his service in the United States Air Force. Over the years she raised five children while supporting John in his growing career, moving from Connecticut to Massachusetts to New Jersey with Getty Oil Co. before settling in Tulsa in 1980, where John retired as President of Skelgas in 1984. She enjoyed golf with her friends, travel (she wished she did more), the arts, and most of all spending time with her dear friends and family (especially her grandchildren). After 54 years of marriage, John passed in 2007. Pat was also preceded in death by her younger brothers Ronald and Robert, both of West Haven. Pat is survived by her children and their spouses: John L. McPartland, Jr. and wife Kristine Redanauer of Audubon, NJ; Paul E. McPartland and wife Erin Farrell of Needham, MA; James P. McPartland and wife Nita McPartland of Tulsa, OK, Susan Amyx and husband Thomas Amyx of Tulsa, OK; Sally Cox of Tulsa, OK; and 9 grandchildren ' Glenna and Max McPartland of Needham, MA, and Patrick McPartland, Matthew, Sarah, Michael and Daniel Cox, Kelly Branam and Casey Amyx of Tulsa, OK. Services will be held Sunday, January 6, 12:30 at Floral Haven Funeral Home, 6500 South 129th East Avenue, Broken Arrow, OK 74012, followed by a reception at the Floral Haven's Family Service Center. Donations in lieu of flowers are suggested to two of Pat's favored charities ' Planned Parenthood's Midtown Health Center, 1007 S. Peoria Ave, Tulsa, OK 74120, or the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, 1304 North Kenosha Ave., Tulsa, OK 74106.
