Patricia Joan Miller's Obituary
It was a hot day when Patricia “Pat” Joan Miller entered the world at Hilcrest hospital on September 23, 1948, to Carl Walter Boydston and Thelma Lucille Carlisle Boydston. She met with her Lord and Savior on June 26, 2025, in her home in Tulsa, being only 76 years young.
She grew up in the Tulsa area learning everything including her love of learning from her parents. She attended Webster and attended Phoenix Avenue Baptist Church. As Pat was walking to church one day she was passed by the family that picked up a bunch of high schoolers to bring to church and little did she know that the love of her life was in that vehicle. Pat began dating Jerry Miller. They attended many proms and semi formal banquets together.
After High School graduation she went to Oklahoma Collage of Liberal Arts and was a member of Delta Kappa Gama. Pat’s junior year Jerry signed up for the Marine Corps. She continued her education while Jerry went to war. Pat graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Elementary School Education in May of 1970. Following graduation she was hired for her first teaching position at Riley. Jerry came home from Vietnam in the late months of 1970. And they were married on December 28, of the same year. Pat not only taught school but also taught Vacation Bible school for many years. There have been her students and co-teachers who have come back to tell us how much they learned from her in school and church. She was Kerr Elementary’s teacher of the year in 2001.
Pat & Jerry welcomed their first son Steve into the world in the spring of 1976. A few short years later, they welcomed Ryan in the summer of 1979. Pat was all about family and vacations. We all have so many stories of their vacations here and there. There is so much laughter and joy around these stories. Pat’s favorite hobbies were two extremes. Traveling gave her endless opportunities to fill her thirty plus photo albums. And lounging by the pool gave her the perfect audience with her family, telling us endless stories of what she was currently reading, and the latest with the royal family. Pat also had a heart for those with special needs, so she joined a charity group whose focus was just that. She served with Tulsa Metro Civitan multiple years and held offices including President.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Thelma Boydston and sister, Sharon Boydston Fair. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Miller, Tulsa; her sons Steve & Ruth Ann Miller, Tulsa and Ryan Miller of Tulsa; Her 3 grandsons, Micah & Rilee Burton- Miller, Manford; Samuel Miller, Tulsa; and Elijah Miller also of Tulsa. Her brothers Mike Boydston and Richard Boydston both of Sapulpa as well as cousins, nieces, nephews, and their children. She was loved by all.
Visitation is Friday, June 27, at Floral Haven Funeral Home from 4:00-7:00pm. The Funeral will be at Southwood Baptist Church on Saturday, June 28 at 10:00am internment to follow at Floral Haven.
