Patricia Jean Nixon's Obituary
Patricia Coby Nixon, age 84, left this world to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 24, 2019. She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Hudson and her husband Jerry; two grandsons Nathan Hudson, married to Misty; and Matthew Hudson; and three great-grandchildren Riley, Logan and Dean. Her husband of 60 years, Russell W. Nixon preceded her in death in May 2016.Pat was born and raised in Tulsa and went to Central High School where she graduated in 1952. She then went to Baylor for a year of nursing before transferring to Oklahoma A & M, which is now known as OSU and changing her major. Patricia married her high school sweetheart in their senior year of college. But even though they married in their senior year, they both finished that year with Bachelor’s Degrees. After graduating from OSU, they had their only child, Phyllis. When Phyllis was three, Patricia began teaching. And over a period of fifteen years, covering Oklahoma, New Mexico, North Dakota, and Texas, she taught everything from high school Home Ec, to 7th and 8th grade Math and Science, to 4th grade and 6th grade classes. While in North Dakota, Pat and Russ saved enough money so that they could both quit their jobs for a year to pursue Master’s Degrees at Eastern New Mexico University. They both completed them just in time to move to Tulsa at the beginning of the next school year. Patricia’s Master’s Degree was in Secondary Education. After a move to Richardson, Texas, Patricia taught school until Phyllis graduated from high school. Deciding to try something different, Pat became a Real Estate agent and broker, which also worked well with the fact that Russ and Pat built a couple of houses to sell and did some of the work themselves. The next adventure in their lives was to move to Marion, Alabama where she got to be a homemaker for a couple of years before they saw a Carousel in a mall there and decided to go home to Tulsa and Woodland Hills Mall and made that their retirement venture. Throughout her life, Pat was a Christian, first attending 1st Baptist Church, Tulsa and through her life until her final membership as a member of South Tulsa Baptist Church. She will be missed by all her friends and family who knew her as either Pat, Patty Jean, Mom, Grandma, Grandma GG or Aunt Pat.
