Patricia Ann O'Neal's Obituary
Patricia Ann O'Neal (Hembree), 84 of Higginsville, Missouri passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. She was born Wednesday, May 22, 1940 in Bossier City, Louisiana, and was the daughter of the late Michael Hembree and late Lois Ezella Hendrix. Patricia was a graduate of Mishawaka, Indiana High School. She was the wife of Jerry O'Neal, marrying on April 15, 1957.
Patricia and Jerry started their careers very early in life with a marketing and advertising firm in their teens in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area. In 1960 after selling the advertising firm they started a carpet business, growing the business to be the largest carpet retailer in Oklahoma. In 1980 they sold the carpet business to move to Kansas City after partnering with a siding company and becoming interested in starting a siding business. In 1982 they started Continental Siding and expanded it into one of the most well-known siding companies in the Kansas City Metro.
In 2014 Patricia and Jerry moved to Higginsville to settle down and be able to rekindle a passion for owning horses and riding. Patricia loved to go out on the back porch and see the horses in the pasture. She enjoyed arts and crafts, sewing and reading. She loved traveling. Patricia and Jerry had the opportunity to travel all over the world being in retail business their entire lives. She attended United Methodist Church in Lee's Summit and Grace United Methodist Church in Higginsville.
Patricia has stood by her husband every step of the way through every business venture and worked just as hard as any other employee. Her keen business savvy was a huge asset in their life long success. She has made countless friends, colleagues, and acquaintances throughout her career. She will be greatly missed by family, friends, and all who knew her.
Surviving are her husband, Jerry O'Neal of the home; one son, Billy O'Neal of Tulsa; two daughters, E'lisa (Will) Clay of Lexington, MO, AJ McCullough of Evergreen, CO; one brother, Larry (Peggy) Names of Oshkosh, WI; three sisters, Glenda (Mike) Walters of Dell City, OK, Peggy (Bill) Lancaster of Yukon, OK, Tommie Jean Jones of WV; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Stephen O'Neal, Jerry O'Neal, Jr.; two brothers, Wesley Names and Gerald Names; and two sisters, Charlotte Dooley, Donna Jones.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 17, 2025 at Floral Haven Funeral Home's Rose Chapel located at 6500 S. 129th E. Ave. Broken Arrow, Oklahoma 74012. Interment will follow in Floral Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
