Patricia Louise Vander Hey's Obituary
Patricia Louise (Parker) Vander Hey went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 29, 2021, at age 87 years young. Her heart, so freely open to so many, released her to spend eternity with Christ.
Pat was born to Ralph and Alpha Parker on September 29, 1933, in Des Moines, Iowa. As a child, she excelled in school, pursued her love of music by playing alto sax and piano and by singing with the church choir that her mom directed.
Pat met her husband, Douglas Vander Hey in 1952 at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. They married three years later and dedicated themselves to a life in God’s ministry. During this time, they were blessed with four children, Dan, Julie, Paul, and Deanna. As a family they had the opportunity to live in Illinois, Michigan, North Dakota, California, and Oklahoma.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving wife and mother, Pat also loved working with children. She utilized this gift in her role as a preschool director for many years in Los Altos, California. Her love of children (Dan & Barb Vander Hey, Julie & Paul Matthews, Paul Vander Hey and Deedee & Rich Lloyd) continued throughout her life as Grandma to 12 grandchildren including: Josh (Melissa) Vander Hey, Brittany (Brandon) Montfort, Ashley (Cullen) Ealand, Brooke Vander Hey, Nicole Matthews, Danae (Matt) Wenig, Trevor Lloyd, Shelby (Wayne) Harber, Alissa (Laura) Lloyd, Karlee Lloyd, Parker Lloyd and Brandon Vander Hey and Gigi to 10 great grandchildren (Noah, Matthew, Lyla and Levi Vander Hey; Melanie, Felicity and David Montfort, Avery Ealand, Quinton Harber and Summer Wenig).
Each day of her life Pat demonstrated her love and kindness for all people based on her faith and commitment in God. She opened her heart to many people and had a profound impact on countless lives. With a bright smile and quick wit Pat always left people better than she found them.
Pat joins her husband Doug, parents Ralph and Alpha, and her brothers, Loren, and Bob, in Heaven. The family requests that in lieu of flowers a gift may be given to one of Pat’s favorite charities which include Cypress (TX)Young Life or Paraclete Mission Group. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Fellowship Bible Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma (5434 E 91st St, Tulsa, OK 74137).
