Patsy Davis' Obituary
Patsy “Mema” Ann Davis, 80 of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed from this life on Tuesday May 18, 2021, at Ascension Saint John’s Hospital. She was born on October 23, 1940 at the Florence Nightingale Hospital in Dallas, Texas to her mother Dorothy Cleo Parten along with her siblings Bill and Bob Story. Mema spent most of her life in Texas and moved to Oklahoma in 2017 to be closer to her family.
Writing this is incredibly difficult as Mema was not a person easily defined. We know with certainty, though, how deeply she loved and cared for her daughter, Pam, and her family, which was felt particularly by her grandkids Mandi, Travis, Angela, and Michael. Especially Michael. Mema was incredibly generous, spoiling the grandkids with tasty treats (like extra cookies even when Mom said no or snacks after karate practice), incredibly thoughtful gifts (like a special jacket that a very young granddaughter fell in love with), and special Christmas ornaments every year for each kiddo that we still treasure even as adults. It’s no surprise that Mema often worried, but when she indulged in her favorite parts of life you could not help but join her. Her love of sweets, especially Pam’s Santa Cake, was unmatched. At family gatherings you’d likely find her with a glass of Cupcake wine recounting stories of her youth and how she met Grandpa… and his brother. She was as sassy as any Real Housewife, had far better skin than any of those ladies (leaving most of us to wonder “what was her secret?”), and had a badass streak that you wouldn’t notice until you saw her Camaro. Her true passion, though, was gardening. The magic she conjured to bring life into this world was astonishing and the world will be a little less beautiful without her nurturing touch.
Mema is survived by her daughter Pamela Sue Ford and her husband Richard Ford; her brother Bob Story; and her grandchildren Mandi Ford Argo and her husband Mathew Argo and their daughter Olivia; Travis Ford and his wife Laura Ford and their children Landon, Carson, and Ava; Angela Melone and her husband Brian Melone and their children Zariah, Matthias, and Maddox; and Michael Ford and his wife Lydia Bewley and their daughter Harper. She was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Story, and her brother Bill Story and his wife Anita.
Mema, you are gone far too soon and you will always be deeply missed.
