Patsy Ruth Naugle's Obituary
Patsy Ruth Naugle
September 1, 1931 – November 18, 2024
Patsy Ruth Naugle, aged 93, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 18, 2024, surrounded by the love of her family. She was predeceased by her elder sister, Betty Boerstler, in 2005, and has now joined her beloved husband, Earl Russell Naugle, who preceded her in death in 2017.
Born at home on September 1, 1931, in Jenks, Oklahoma, to Ethel Mae (Bough) and John Henry Howard, Patsy was the middle of three sisters. She shared a close and loving bond with her older sister, Betty Boerstler and her younger sister, Joan “Pete” Taber, who survives her. Patsy graduated from Central High School in Tulsa in 1951 and married Earl, the love of her life, on July 25, 1953, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Patsy not only fell in love with Earl but also embraced his large and loving family.
Patsy and Earl built a home in Inola, Oklahoma, filled with love and laughter, raising three daughters: Belinda Kay, Teresa Lynn, and Pamela Renee. Patsy cherished her role as a mother and later as a grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her grandchildren: Autumn, Summer, Caleb, Trevor, and Avery, as well as her great-grandchildren: Charlie, Beau, Emerson, and Kingston. Patsy took immense pride in creating a close-knit family and treasured the memories they built together.
A nurturing homemaker and talented artist, Patsy’s naturalist oil paintings captured the beauty of the world around her and earned her numerous accolades, including many first-place awards at the Tulsa State Fair. Her artistic talent was complemented by her deep Christian faith and her pride in her Muscogee Creek Nation heritage. Patsy was actively involved in her tribe, taking great joy in celebrating and preserving her Native American roots.
Patsy’s life was guided by faith and a profound dedication to service. She learned to pray and study the Bible from her grandmother, Mamie Howard, and admired her sister Betty’s faithful acts of kindness and service. Patsy was an active member of First Baptist Church of Inola before joining Parkview Baptist Church in Tulsa in 2008, where she cultivated a cherished community of friends. She volunteered selflessly, with Meals on Wheels, and even being awarded a Ombudsmam Volunteer of the Year Award in 1998 for her outstanding service to Elderly and Disabled Residents of Nursing Facility in Oklahoma, as well as an appreciation award in 1999 for her dedication to 10 years of service as an Ombudsman Volunteer from the Grand Gateway Area Agency on Aging. Her accolades are a reflection of her deep commitment to selfless service and her conviction that small acts of kindness can create a lasting impact on the lives of others.
Among Patsy’s favorite memories were traveling to Yellowstone National Park, attending art classes, sharing Sunday School lessons, and spending time with her younger sister, Pete. Her life was also filled with simple joys—playing cards with friends, enjoying live music with Earl, spending summers vacationing at Fort Gibson Lake, and during the winter, retreating to Brownsville, Texas, where they treasured their time in a close-knit RV community. Patsy’s vibrant spirit remained undimmed even in her later years. She stayed active in her community, attended regular workout classes, and continued to share her wit and wisdom with those around her.
Patsy Ruth Naugle will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her life was a masterpiece, painted with love, faith, and acts of kindness that will echo in the hearts of all who knew her.
Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Sunday, November 24th, at Floral Haven Funeral Home and the funeral service will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, November 25th at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel
