Patsy J. Smith Flynn's Obituary
Patsy Juel Smith Flynn, 73, of Tulsa, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 19, 2014. She was born on August 14, 1940, at home in Upper Sleith, West Virginia. She was the firstborn of five daughters born to Irene Rogers Dunlap and Forrest Benjamin Dunlap. Patsy also had three brothers. In her younger years, Patsy was a Marine Corps bride and later moved to Elyria, Ohio where she and her boys attended church and she sang in the choir. When her boys were young, Pat was a stay at home mother and developed a lucrative home business. Patsy had a great love of music and sang in the band, The Sundowners, with her oldest son who sang and played lead guitar. Patsy’s family moved to Oklahoma in the summer of 1976. Patsy worked for Hale Halsell and enjoyed planning and leading company trips all over the world. (Switzerland, Hong Kong, etc.) Patsy became a member of Christ United Methodist Church where she enjoyed leading a Care Group for divorce recovery. Later, Patsy joined Church On The Move and was a member there for her remaining years. Patsy was known for her inner and outward beauty, gift of music, and love for her family and church. Patsy is preceded in death by her parents, sister Maxine Woods, brothers, Teddy and Marvin Dunlap, husband of twenty years, Jerry Drake, and husband of sixteen years, Patrick Smith. Patsy is survived by three sons, Michael Drake, and his wife, Darla, of Cleveland, Oklahoma, Roger Drake, and his wife, Keri, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Mark Drake, and his wife, Lori, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, twelve grandchildren, Joshua, Jered, Ryan, Jessica, Christopher, Blake, Amanda, Sarah, Audrey, Nathan, Danny, and Kegan, five great-grandchildren, siblings, Dorothy “Dotty” Honeycut, and her husband, Sam, of Hudson, Ohio, Brynda Fleming, and her husband, Charlie, of Sutton, West Virginia, Dianne Phillips, and her husband, John, of Weston, West Virginia, Ben Carr, of Wilsie, West Virginia, beloved cat, Bindi Lynn, and numerous other family members and friends. Memorial donations may be made in Patsy’s name to Church On The Move, 1003 N 129th E Ave, Tulsa, OK 74116. If you would like, please wear purple to the service. It was her favorite color.
