Paul Hilburn's Obituary
Paul Eugene Hilburn, 82, of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed from this life on Thursday, August 16, 2018 in a Tulsa hospital. He was born July 22, 1936 in Racine, Missouri to the late Leonard Lee Hilburn and Bessie Lee James Hilburn. Paul married the love of his life, Gloria Patricia Ann Holcomb Hilburn on January 19, 1961 in Gillam, LA.Paul loved being a Mason, and was a Mason for over 50 years. During this time he became a Shriner and was active in the Car Buffs, Dune Buggy units. and was a Merry Maker for a short time. He was also Shriner of the month this year. He was an Honorary Legion of Honor with the Oklahoma DeMolay. He served 4 years in the United States Air Force while being stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base. He also loved photography and loved taking pictures of many of things and events. He even won an award at the Tulsa state fair. He always looked at the bright side of things and was good to everyone he met. He was loved by everyone he met. He took many under his wings, foster children, friends and strangers alike changing their lives forever. Whether it was teaching them about altimeters, teaching them the working tools of masonry or just the ways of the world.Paul was a retired American Airline Altimeter mechanic. After retiring he opened his own business that was successful and recently had really retired!He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Gloria P. Holcomb Hilburn; four daughters, Paula Westin and husband Scott of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Sara Hayman of Catoosa, Oklahoma, Jennifer Spears and husband Kenneth of Milfay, Oklahoma, and Cynthia McCaskill and husband Scott of Knoxville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Stephanie Zongker, Jeffery Westin, Tyler Hayman, Whitney Asbell, and Whitney Yeary; and great grandchildren, Jamie (Jay) Zongker, Austin Zongker, Sierra Zongker, Abby Westin, Aiden Westin, Mallerie Spears, Ethan Asbell, Bo Yeary, and Valkryie Yeary.A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Akdar Shrine Temple, 2808 South Sheridan, Tulsa, Oklahoma.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Akdar Shrine Transportation Fund, 2808 S Sheridan Rd, Tulsa, OK 74129.
