Pauline H. Grove's Obituary
Pauline H. Grove was born October 9, 1926 to Homer Hutchison and Donea Loftis Hutchison in Ava, Missouri. She left this world peacefully on November 26, 2019 to join her parents, her brother, Delmas, and her beloved Warren Reid Grove, her husband of nearly 65 years. She loved her family greatly including her daughter, Marsha Owen of Tulsa and her son, Roger Grove (Anita) of Edmond, OK. Her grandchildren, Stephen Owen (Melissa), Taylor Grove (Kelsey), and Harrison Grove (Sarah) brought love and great joy to Pauline and Warren’s world. Pauline welcomed five great grandchildren, Michael (Pia) and Matthew Owen, Emma and Henry Lamb, and Graham Grove into her growing family. She is also survived by her loving and supportive sister-in-law, Jean Douglass and her husband, Norval, of Tulsa and numerous nieces and nephews. Pauline was “one of a kind” as they would say about her at her most recent residence, Forest Hills Assisted Living Center in Broken Arrow. The family wishes to thank the staff of Forest Hills for their loving, patient, and compassionate care of our mother especially in her most recent months as her health continued to fail more rapidly. Pauline was an avid bridge player, a wonderful cook, seamstress, and homemaker, an expert beautician, a talented office manager, and one of few credentialed ophthalmic technicians in the U.S. at the time of her employment at Children’s Medical Center. She could sell most anything and loved gardening, bird watching, garage and estate sales, and OU football. She truly enjoyed music and dancing and even, in her last years, appreciated the tunes of Three Dog Night, Johnny Rivers, and Creedence Clearwater Revival among others. She could also play a mean game of blackjack. St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church in Tulsa and their friends there played a very important role in Pauline and Warren’s life where they were among the original church members. Funeral services will be held at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow on Saturday, November 30, at 10:00 a.m. Friends may visit with family Friday, November 29, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Floral Haven. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations to The Alzheimer’s Association.
