Pavla Peroutka's Obituary
Pavla A. Peroutka, age 85, a resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma, formerly of Wheaton, Illinois, passed away on Friday January 19, 2024. She was born August 4, 1938, and came to the United States from
Czechoslovakia in 1954. Shortly after moving to the U.S., she fell in love with and married Miroslav Kurka in 1957 and was later widowed in 1966 leaving her to raise two children by herself. Pavla created roots in her area and became a longtime resident of Berwyn, La Grange Park, Western Springs and Wheaton. She was very active in the Czechoslovak community including teaching Czech school for children, and displayed great pride in her heritage and history. She helped many refugees get settled upon their arrival in the US and always aided those in need. She was well known for her artistic abilities and was exceptionally talented. However, true to her selfless nature she never pursued her dream of art school because she always put the needs of others first. Pavla found love again after her children were grown when she married Vaclav Peroutka in 1986 and was again widowed in 2004. Pavla will always be remembered for her strength through all she endured throughout her lifetime, including the inconceivable death of her daughter two years ago, and the fortitude with which she became the foundational rock on which her family leaned on. Pavla is survived by her son Miro Kurka and daughter-in-law Bonnie Kurka; her grandchildren Andrew Stanley, Matthew Kurka and Michaela Kemp; her great-grandchild Harrison Kemp; and her siblings John and George Krejci. She was preceded in death by husbands Miroslav Kurka and Vaclav Peroutka; her daughter Paula Kurka; and her brother Zdenek Krejci. Interment will be private at Bohemian National Cemetery in Chicago, IL.
No formal services will be held at this time
