Penny Stewart's Obituary
Penny L. (Neece) Stewart, 76, of Tulsa passed away on Friday, March 22, 2019 at Clarehouse in Tulsa.She was born July 23, 1942 in Tulsa to Jack and Lois (Wolfe) Neece. After graduation from Will Rogers High School in 1960 she attended Texas Women’s University and North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. It was there she met the love of her life, Reuben D. Stewart. They were married in Tulsa on January 26, 1962.After moving to the Verdigris area in 1971, Penny was active in the local community, substitute teaching at Verdigris, while also being the best daughter, sister, wife and mother she could be. Always an avid gardener, there was nothing she enjoyed more than making her yard beautiful, usually alongside her favorite feline friend.Later, usually with Reuben, she enjoyed golf – taking many golf trips together over the years. She also enjoyed knitting, most of all with her “Knitwits” group of friends.Penny was a long-time member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Claremore, Oklahoma, where she served in the alter guild and was its director for a time.Most of all she loved her family.She is survived by her husband of 57 years; her daughter Marlo (William) Holly of Bixby; her son Jack (Mary) Stewart of Bella Vista, Arkansas; her sister Sheila (Ken) Robbins of Largo, Florida; grandchildren Jacob (Sarah) McKenzie of Los Angeles, CA; Maria (David) Cobb of Broken Arrow, and Jason Stewart of Hayward, WI., as well as great-grandchildren Ethan Cobb and Jack Stewart. She is also survived by a large and loving group of cousins, nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held on at 10 am on Friday, March 29 at St. Paul’s Episcopal – 1310 N Sioux Ave, Claremore, OK 74017In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor may be given to a charity of choice.
