Peter James Barnett's Obituary
Peter James Barnett, 67, passed away due to complications from a massive stroke on January 15, 2015 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was born July 5, 1947 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin to Stewart Benedict and Lucille Katherine (Milske) Barnett. Peter married the love of his life, Cynthia Bumpus on March 22, 1975 in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Later the marriage was solemnized on August 15, 1977 in the Salt Lake City Temple. His greatest joy was his 9 grandchildren and his 2 daughters. He always said his family made him the richest man on earth. Pete was known for his gentle, loving nature, his thoughtfulness, his passion for his family and Country, and his testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.Pete was fun-loving, loved the Boy Scouts, camping, canoeing, cycling, gardening and family history. He was a gifted genealogist that wrote curriculums and was published and reviewed by the National Genealogical Society Quarterly. Pete worked hard as the owner/operator of Barnett Express Transportation, enjoyed life, and deeply cared for those around him. Pete graduated from Lincoln High School, Manitowoc, Wisconsin in 1966 and went on to get his B.S. from Holy Family College, Manitowoc, Wisconsin in 1971.He is survived by his wife Cynthia; 2 daughters, Rebecca Summers, Megan (Ben) Ipson; 9 grandchildren, Molly, Ben, Katie, Jack, Grace, Hannah and Emma Summers and Zackary and Max Ipson; brother, John (Carolyn) Barnett of Manitowoc, WI, father-in-law, William Bumpus, Sr. and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, Stewart and Lucille Barnett and son-in-law Duane Summers.Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Floral Haven Funeral Home, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.A funeral service for family and friends will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1701 N. Hickory Avenue, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma with the committal service and dedication of the grave to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
