Phillip Gary Knapp's Obituary
Phillip Gary Knapp, 72, died unexpectedly May 9, 2022. He was born at Huntington Memorial Hospital. He was born on August 5, 1949 in Pasadena, CA, the son of Frederick Knapp and Clarabelle (Patterson) Knapp.
Phil graduated from John Muir High School, Class of 1968. Following graduation, he attended Pasadena Community College earning an Associates degree. He then joined the Pasadena Police Department. He honorably severed on the force until retiring in July, 1983. After retiring from the force, he moved his family to Big Bear California where he worked on the slopes and then eventually opened his own Pool and Spa business. Deciding it was time to leave California he took a job "temporary" job in Oklahoma building sets for the theatrical arts. Shortly after he moved the family and "temporary" became permanent. He had always had a passion for theater and working behind the scenes so he joined the IATSE 354 (International Alliance of Theatrical State Employes Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts of the United States and Canada) where he worked as a Stagehand mostly running a spot light. He loved this job, getting paid to watch theater and concerts wasn't so bad. He finally retired around 2014. After retirement he spent most of his time with his kids and grandkids.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his only brother Rick Knapp. He is survived by his daughter Lacey Gallagher of Broken Arrow, OK; son Shawn Knapp and wife Amanda of Houston, TX; two grandsons Peyton and Lincoln. He also has a host of nephews, nieces, and extended family.
