Phillip Steve Lawson's Obituary
Phillip Steve Lawson 62 of Tulsa passed away Friday February 24, 2012 after a two year battle with cancer. Phil was born April 11, 1949 in Stillwater Oklahoma, son of Larmon (L.A.) and Vermel Lawson. He served in the Air Force from July 1969 through July of 1973 with an honorable discharge in July 1975. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Personnel and Industrial Relations from the University of North Texas in 1979.He later earned an Associate degree in Applied Science, Computer Science from Tulsa Community College in 1996. Phil was a diverse individual who enjoyed hiking, running, bicycling, dancing (where he met his wife), animal husbandry, and all things outdoors. Phil had a natural love of farming and rural life and had spent several years working and improving his beloved farm West of Sand Springs. True happiness for Phil was building a new pond with his trusty blue tractor. Phil is survived by his wife Sharon Lawson, mother Vermel Lawson, father Larmon Lawson, sisters Vera Holloway and Jan Martin, brother Terry Lawson, step mother Beverly Jo Lawson, step brothers Kenny Lawson and Mark Thompson, and their families including nieces, nephew, great nieces, great nephew, stepsons, step granddaughters, and step grandson. Services will be held Wednesday February 29 at Floral Haven Chapel at 12:30pm. In memory of Phil Lawson, his family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Oklahoma State FFA.
