Phillip Ramsay's Obituary
Phillip (Phil) Ray Ramsay, age 73, passed away on Aug 7, 2015, in Tulsa Ok. Beloved husband, daddy and grandpa, Phil’s life revolved around his family. He lived his life with his hands wide open and would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a giver, protector, teacher, mentor & friend to many.Esteemed and only child of Raymond L Ramsay & Maxine M Banes, Phil was raised in Tulsa and spent many a day as a young child on the rodeo circuit with his parents. After graduating Nathan Hale High School in 1961, Phil immediately went in to the United States Air Force at the age of 19. Phil served for 48 months as a member of the 605th Air Commando Unit as a flight mechanic and flight line mechanic around the US & South America.After returning home in 1965, Phil went to work at Mid West Corp in the “new car make ready” dept earning $1.50 per hour. He later moved to Douglas Aircraft where he assembled new DC8 and DC9 flaps. He applied for American Airlines in 1966 where he worked as an A/O mechanic for 36 plus years & retired in 2002.Phil loved to travel and would do so every chance he got. Phil had a love of cars but also had a Honda Gold Wing motorcycle from which he traveled cross country on. Phil was a man of many hats & he had a small engine repair shop he ran from his home. He loved bringing life back into things & tinkering around in his garage was heaven on earth for him. He was a talented silver smith and also crafted many pieces of beautiful beaded art work that he and his wife would sell at pow wows near and far.Phil was a member of the Blue Lodge Freemasons and was a member of the Shriner’s community. Phil loved riding his mini car with other Shriners in local parades and took several trips to deliver toys to Children’s Hospitals in both Okla. and Texas.Phil is survived by his wife, Jeanie of 38 yrs, daughter Penny Rodocker & husband Devern, son Phillip Ramsay II and wife Tami, daughter Debby Moore & husband Scott Moore, daughter Michelle Crosslin & husband Rick. Phil also has 11 grandchildren; Dustin Chadwell & wife Kayla, Amanda Harmon & husband Brad, Greg Rodocker, David Rodocker, Jake Moore, Cody Moore, Megan Ramsay, Madelyn Ramsay, Mason Ramsay, Matt Meeker, Amanda Gordon, and 4 great grandchildren; Darian Chadwell, Eleanore Chadwell, Evelynn Harmon & Rylee Gordon.Phil was loved by many and will be sorely missed. Funeral Service to be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 12:30 pm-Pleasant View Baptist Church in Pryor, Oklahoma with interment at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens.
