Phylis Jean McWherter's Obituary
Phylis Jean McWherter, of Broken Arrow Oklahoma, was 86 when she passed from this life to her eternal reward on July 14, 2021. She was born Phylis Jean Ware to Lawrence and Ruth Ware on May 19, 1935, in Wynona Oklahoma. She was the oldest of 4 children, her siblings Betty Ware, Dean Ware, and John Ware.
Over the course of her life, she held many jobs, but she was most proud of being a wife and mother, and keeper of her home, dedicated to the service and help of friends, family, and her local church family. She was a long-time member of the Broken Arrow Church of Christ and was involved in teaching children Bible classes and Vacation Bible School.
She was married to Baughn McWherter in Las Vegas, Nevada December 21st, 1953, while he served in the Air Force during the Korean War. They were married 55 years and had 3 children together.
Phylis is preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Ruth Ware, her siblings, Betty Ware, Dean Ware, and John Ware, and her son, Gary McWherter. She is survived by her children, son Philip McWherter, his wife Kendy and their children Casey and Mckenna McWherter and their children Harlow, Crew, and Draper, Candice Graves her husband Matt Graves and their children Kerrington and Kennedy, Philip Taylor McWherter and his wife Dylan and their son Maddox, daughter in law, Nancy McWherter and her children Jacob McWherter and his wife Laura and Daniel McWherter and his wife Danna, and daughter, Beth Astor and her children Riley Astor, Carter Astor and Benjamin Astor. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews as well as extended family.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, August 14th, 2021 at 11 am at the Broken Arrow Church of Christ.
