Phyllis Brooks' Obituary
On September 4, 2024, Phyllis Brooks passed away peacefully at the age of 81 after a long battle with cancer. She was born June 12, 1943 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to Virgil and Pauline Webster. Phyllis was married 57 years to Arthur Brooks Jr, who preceded her in death in 2023. They met at a church event in Bellevue, Nebraska in the summer of 1963. They married June 6, 1965 and were blessed with four children; two daughters and two sons.
Phyllis was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She enjoyed cooking and especially enjoyed Thanksgiving when her whole family would gather together. It was her mission to make sure everyone had their favorite pie.
Phyllis also had a love for all things flowers and when she was not taking care of her family you would find her gardening and tending her rose garden. She worked at Sunny Wall Flowers in Rolla, Missouri as a florist for many years. Even in retirement she enjoyed making flower arrangements for her grandchildren’s weddings, special occasions, and holidays.
Phyllis is survived by her sister Linda (Gary) Lavoie, her four children: Renee (James) Vasher of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Bryan (Martina) Brooks of Rogers, Arkansas, Garrett (Gretchen) Brooks of Anchorage, Alaska, and Debrah (Jeremy) Minster of St. Louis, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren: Christopher (Ceidy) Vasher, Sarah Vasher, Amanda Vasher, Andrew Vasher, Trevor Metheny, Tori (Chris Yang) Metheny, Heather (Jacob) Holloway, Amy Brooks, Leah Weiss, Lillian Brooks, Rorik Brooks, Jacob Minster and Nathan Minster, and three great-grandchildren: Clara Vasher, Raelynn Holloway, and Fallon Holloway.
She touched the lives of many people and most of all will be remembered as a good and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the V Foundation at v.org.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 10, 11:30am, Floral Haven Funeral Home, Broken Arrow, OK with a graveside service at 12:30pm.
