Phyllis Jean Gastineau was born Phyllis Jean Thomas February 21, 1938 in Ramona, Oklahoma. June 19, 1957 Phyllis Jean Thomas married John Okel Gastineau in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Together Phyllis and John Gastineau had 4 children, 10 grandchildren, and 7 great grand children. John Gastineau passed away March 30, 1991 and Phyllis Gastineau waited for all these years to be with him again. During these years and all the years of Phyllis Gastineau’s life starting in 1961 after having her first child Phyllis Gastineau was a dedicated mother. Fiercely protective and loving with her children and her husband, Phyllis Gastineau’s family with John Gastineau was the center of her world.Phyllis Gastineau was an extreme extrovert and truly never met a stranger. Everyone was Phyllis Gastineau’s friend. Phyllis Gastineau lead many teams as a league bowler. She won many trophies. Phyllis Gastineau liked the “occasional” mixed drink which was so “occasional” that she owned a bottle of Canadian Mist that was missing a sip or two after twenty plus years that she actually put into a glass with mostly Coke. She tried “Misty Dew” one time with Mountain Dew. Phyllis Gastineau drank Margaritas in celebration with her bowling team mates a few times. Phyllis Gastineau was a smoker since she was younger but in her last decade of her life she cut down to a few cigarettes a day. None of her neighbors or friends of the past decade knew she smoked.Phyllis Gastineau was known for her love of crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, crocheting, and Oklahoma Sooner Football.Phyllis crocheted many baby blankets, baby booties, christening outfits, blankets, and house shoes throughout sixty years of her life. Phyllis had an annual Christmas tradition of making house shoes for everyone for that last quarter of a century who attended her Christmas Eve family gatherings.Phyllis Gastineau was impatiently waiting to be reunited with her husband John Gastineau again. She missed him intensely and the loss of him was unbearable. Determined to maintain her independence, Phyllis preferred to live in her own place. Phyllis loved calls, visits, and spending time with her children, grand children and great grand children.During times when she was alone with her own thoughts Phyllis loved to journal and wrote so many journals that she started labeling them in “volumes” as though she was writing entire encyclopedia sets. Phyllis would write random notes, thoughts, and feelings down in notebooks that she would keep record keeping and contact lists of family and friends in.Highly organized in her own methodical way, Phyllis Gastineau made sure that she handled all her personal business. Phyllis Gastineau drafted many handwritten wills maintaining a “master list” of all her possessions. The most recent draft she wrote that was found the day she was found deceased was dated June 11, 2001.Phyllis Gastineau was found deceased in her home on June 11, 2019. Phyllis Gastineau was found in her bed as though she went to sleep and didn’t wake up again. Phyllis Gastineau had 3 known wishes for herself:· Phyllis Gastineau didn’t want to die in any of her children’s homes· Phyllis Gastineau didn’t want to out live any of her 4 children· Phyllis Gastineau wanted to be reunited with the love of her life her husband John GastineauPhyllis Gastineau got to fulfill each of these terms.
