Phyllis Ann Hodges' Obituary
Phyllis Ann Hodges, 86, passed from this earthly life on November 21, 2012 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Phyllis was born on August 18, 1926 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Roy L. and Mabel (Lance) Kifer. She was a 1944 graduate of Will Rogers High School and was a Sun Oil (Sunoco) Reconciliation Specialist until retiring in 1983. She was a member of the University United Methodist Church, Joy Circle, & Homemakers Class. Phyllis was an enthusiastic member of an RV club, cared deeply for her canine companions, and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Phyllis was enjoyed by all who met her, and remembered as 'a special friend,' and an 'intelligent,' 'precious' woman who 'laid down her life' for those close to her. Of her time at Sun Oil, a coworker said, 'she was admired by everyone in her department, all the way up to the big brass in Philadelphia.' Even after her retirement, she maintained close relationships with her coworkers, and spoke weekly on the phone with friends from her time living in Texas. A one-time friend of Phyllis's was a lifelong one. Phyllis was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert J. Hodges; sister, Betty Johnson; and parents, Roy and Mabel Kifer. She is survived by her loving second husband, E.G. Anderson; children, JoAnn Woods and husband, Larry and David E. Hodges and wife, Judy Burk; grandchildren, Vickie Ruggiero and husband, Charlie, Stephen Woods, Monica A. Carranza and husband, Juan, and Alexander M. Hodges; and great-grandchildren, Joseph A. Carranza and Anthony E. Carranza. Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Monday, November 26, 2012 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Phyllis's name be sent to either St. John Hospice of Tulsa through the St. John Foundation, 4720 S. Harvard, Ste. 202, Tulsa, OK 74135 (https://webpayments.sjmc.org/foundation/), or University United Methodist Church, 500 S. College Ave., Tulsa, OK 74104 (www.uumctulsa.org).
