Priscilla "Pris" Lynn Waid's Obituary
Priscilla “Pris” Lynn Cribbs Waid was born on October 7, 1940 in Stinnert Holler, Alabama; a very small crosswords community outside Athens. Pris passed away September 20, 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At age 3 she and her mother moved to Topeka, Kansas where Pris grew up, attended grade and high school and graduated with a BA in education from Washburn University. She taught grade school in Topeka, Kansas, Tempe, Arizona and Tulsa, Oklahoma. Upon the arrival of son Brad, Pris retired to become a full time mother. Pris began singing musical comedy as a student at Topeka Kansas High School. She then attended Washburn University in Topeka continuing her singing as a founding member of the Washburn Belles singing group. The Belles toured and performed at many university campuses and special events thru ought the country. Upon arriving in Tulsa, Pris continued her singing in the New Haven Church choir. She also joined the Tulsa Cerebral Palsy Association which provides funds to support programs for those afflicted with Cerebral Palsy. The association’s annual fund raiser is a live musical stage production, the Red Glove Review. Pris performed in the review for 26 years before retiring in 1993. Pris is survived by her husband Larry Waid; Daughter Kimberly Marie Waid; Daughter Lorie and her husband Allen Faye; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and many good friends.
